SOS Challenge #43 - You Take the Cake!

We have a super, fun challenge for you this week over at Shopping our Stash Challenge Blog!  Challenge #43 is a theme challenge.  We would like to see your creations using food/drink images or with a food/drink theme.  It was definitely a challenge for me as I realized I don't have any images relating to just food/drink!  But I did have this super cute image by Whipper Snapper called "Take the Cake Turtle" in my coloured image pile that I hadn't yet made into anything and it had a cake on it which is technically food (and the best kind of food-dessert)!!
I paired it with some Echo Park & Bo Bunny Paper scraps and some pink rick rack & pearls from my stash to complete.  Super cute and quick and simple.  Not sure why I hadn't made this image into a card yet but now it will be the perfect birthday card to have on hand.

I will be entering it into the following challenge:

Critter Sketch Challenge - Monochromatic Green

Our challenge this week over at Critter Sketch Challenge Blog is to create a monochromatic card using the colour GREEN!  I always have such a hard time with these type of challenges!  I used up scraps from my Echo Park Victoria Gardens 6x6 paper pad from my scrap pile to make this card:
I also had this pretty flower just sitting in my flower drawer waiting to be used.  The lace was originally white but I distressed it using Tim Holtz Distress ink in bundled sage.  The chipboard letters were also from  a Tim Holtz package and I used my glue pad and Martha Stewart Glitter to make them really sparkle.  All in all and green monochromatic card.  I can't say it's my absolute favourite but it will do :)

I hope you will play along with us this week over at Critter Sketch.  Our sponsor for the month is Digital Delights!

SOS Challenge #42 - Embossing Challenge

It's time for another challenge over at Shopping our Stash Challenge Blog!  This week it's a technique challenge and one of my absolute favourite techniques:  EMBOSSING!  You can dry emboss (which I chose to do this week) or heat emboss, whichever you'd like.  We have Meljen's Designs sponsoring again this week so be sure to play along for your chance to pick up some super cute Meljen's images.  I used an older Meljen's Design image called:  Sunflower Buggies.  I've actually had this image which I coloured in ages ago with my copic markers but hadn't yet made it into a card.  I love the cute little bees and gorgeous sunflower!
I used my Swiss Dots cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the background (with cardstock from my scrap pile) and also embossed a photo corner using a Spellbinders Floral Doily Accent die.  The gingham ribbon is a tiny piece leftover in my scrap pile and the sentiment was stamped directly above the image.  I even added a lonely yellow gemstone to the center of my photo corner.  It's funny, I rarely use the colour yellow but I think in the last few posts I've had two cards with this colour combo and I definitely love it!  This card totally makes me anxious for spring to arrive so all the flowers start to bloom :)

Be sure to check out the SOS Challenge Blog to see all the fabulous creations by the rest of the SOS crew!  I was even able to play along with a few challenges this week:

SOS Challenge #41 - My Best Friend

Happy Tuesday!!  Today marks the 41st Challenge over at Shopping our Stash (SOS) Challenge Blog!  This week's challenge is a very easy one so you have no excuses for not playing along with us!!  We would like to see your creations which include a sentiment or have a Bugaboo image used.  I managed to use both a Bugaboo Stamps image called "Best Friends" and paired it with this super cute sentiment "if friends were flowers I'd pick you twice".
I used a pink card base that I picked up ages ago from the dollar store so that I'd be able to throw a card together quickly.  (PS I have many more in various colours - why haven't I used them sooner?)
I coloured the image with copics and then paired with this fabulous paper (I think it's Echo Park) that Carla sent me awhile back.  I also had a lonely pink flower in my stash which worked perfectly on my card.  Super cute & super easy to throw together quickly.

Hope to see you playing along with us this week.  If you don't have a Bugaboo image you can pick them up over at the Bugaboo Store (check out the deal of the day) or you could just use a sentiment as that will work for the challenge too :)

Critter Sketch Challenge #104 - Photo Inspiration Challenge

So did you watch the Academy Awards Show last night?  I wasn't going to because it's so incredibly boring normally.  This time however Brad Pitt & George Clooney were up for awards so I just had to watch, you know?  Even if I hadn't seen any of the movies nominated it was still fun to see all the stars and the red carpet fashion!!

So on to more important things......it's Monday which means time for another Critter Sketch Challenge!  Challenge #104 is a photo inspiration challenge and we have this cool photo courtesy of http://design-seeds.com/index.php/home/entry/swimmingly-bright:

These aren't colours I normally use so it was a fun challenge for me!  I chose to use the colours to inspire me starting with the only orange paper I think I have in my paper stash.  Both DP designs are by Bo Bunny.  I paired it with this super cute "Surfer Ian" image from The Greeting Farm which is available from our monthly sponsor "Stamp & Create":
I coloured the image with copics and think I managed to capture all of the colours except for the light grey!  I printed the "HELLO" sentiment off from my computer and added a couple of orange brads to complete.  A cute boy's card I think!!  I hope you will play along with us this week over at Critter Sketch Challenge Blog :)

SOS Challenge #40 - Photo Inspiration Challenge

I love photo inspiration challenges and that's just what we have in store for you this week over at Shopping our Stash Challenge Blog for our 40th Challenge.  I love them because I love how everyone can take a look at a photo and come up with completely different ways that it inspires them.  Here's the photo inspiration:
And here's my card inspired mostly by the fabulous colours in this photo!

I love the yellow and green and that's what I based my card on (though there are hints of pink, purple & brown as well).  I used one of the very first stamps I ever bought from Sugar Nellie "Daisy" which also happens to be one of my favourites too!  I coloured her with copics and since I don't often use yellow and green that much I'm considering it my stash for this week.

I also tried a new technique for me which is copic colouring using the palette transferring technique.  I LOVE this technique because I can do my shading so much better so I'll be practicing this way more.  I kept my card very CAS and only added a hint of cotton candy stickles to Daisy's ring of flowers in her hair.    Super cute, right?  I can't wait to see how our photo inspires  you this week!!

SOS Challenge #39 - Metal Mania!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!  This week over at Shopping our Stash (SOS) we are celebrating Metal Mania!  For our 39th challenge we are asking you to dig deep into your stash and put those great metal items to use on your creations!  You can use brads, clips, snaps, eyelets or any other metal item you can think of.  You should see what amazing cards the DT came up with this week!  Here's my card using this super cute digi image from our sponsor Dilly Bean Stamps called "Potted Daisies".
I used some metal brads for the centre of each daisy (ran out of pink so had to use up some yellow too) and a metal sentiment from Making Memories which I've had since I started cardmaking many years ago.  The image was coloured with copics and paired with this super fun cute paper by Echo Park that my wonderful DT Leader Carla sent me.  Thanks Carla, loved using this bright, fun coloured paper!

Can't wait to see how you use your metal items this week over at SOS!
